GLENWOOD CITY — Glenwood City’s volleyball team went to Owen-Withee to play the Blackhawks on August 30 before going to Ellsworth to play St. Croix Central on September 1.
The Hilltoppers lost in straight sets to the Blackhawks in their August 30 meeting. The girls lost the first set 17-25 before pushing the score to 21-25 in the second. Glenwood City dropped the third set 16-25.
Head coach Christa Blaser called the match a solid night stating that the girls put up a solid defense, but need growth on offense.
“If we can increase our attack, we could see a turn in our season,” Blaser said. “The second set we took the lead by 10 points or better, but just couldn’t hang on to it.”
Glenwood City recorded 16 kills for the night, with Tressa Peskar recording five and Lexi Curvello and Abby Kremer putting up another three each. Information regarding the other five kills was not provided.
The team also recorded 14 aces, with Curvello picking up three while Delaney Quinn led the team with five. Again, information regarding the other seven kills as not available.
