The Dunn County Historical Society is proud to announce that Excel Energy will sponsor its 2016-17 school tours program to assist schools to participate in field trips to the Rassbach Heritage museum. Funds help schools underwrite a portion of their transportation costs.
The sponsorship is part of Xcel Energy’s ongoing commitment to education, economic sustainability, arts and the environment. “We’re pleased to support the Dunn County Historical Society’s school tour program in order to provide area students an opportunity to better understand our regional history,” said Xcel Energy Community Service Manager, Robert Schultz. “We’re excited that these funds will help provide field trip educational opportunities to the museum that otherwise would not have been possible.”
Tour coordinator and board member Rich Sterry said he was delighted that Xcel had agreed to team up with the Society. “In the era of tight school budgets, sponsor support can make the difference on whether a field trip can be taken or not. Last year we were able to help more than 1,500 students representing 18 schools tour the museum and learn about Dunn County’s rich history. Through sponsor support, the program has continued to increase the number of students served the past few years.”
Tours of the Heritage Museum can be tailored to group age level and interest. Typical visits include an introductory video and a guided tour of the exhibits, including the former Hilkrest rural school. Also participating in tours regularly are scouts and adult groups including university students and senior citizens.
