Booth resigns City Council seat

Crystal Booth tendered a resignation letter as a member of the Glenwood City council at the Council’s regular monthly meeting Monday evening, May 16.

The first item that Mayor John Larson addressed during his report was that he had received the resignation letter from Booth that day. Larson noted family obligations as he read the letter to the other members of the Council. Larson commented that he wished she could stay on the council, but he accepted her resignation.

In her letter, Booth related that her youngest son had an illness that sent him to the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis where he recovered.

In the letter she stated: “The little boy who I very well could have lost this February has his first baseball game tonight. He has many over the next two months, and I want to be there. It is unfair for me to stay on the council and not let someone else who has the dedication to such an endeavor over other obligations.”

Booth noted that it was an honor and privilege to serve on the Council for the past five years. Her term of office would have expired in April of 2017.

Mayor Larson will now make an appointment to fill the open seat.
