Boyceville HS finishes 7th overall at UW-River Falls, 2nd in Division
The Boyceville Middle School Science Olympiad finished in seventh place overall out of 61 teams at the University of River Falls Invitational last month. The Bulldogs defeated their third state champion of the year in Bismark HS from North Dakota.
Gold medals were earned by senior Wyatt Swenson and sophomore Casey Owen in Bridge Building, juniors Kiel Anderson and Marvin Wienke in Electric Vehicle, seniors Brandon Windsor and Carolyn Voelker in Food Science, sophomores Jason Swanepoel and Nicole Drinkman in Fossils, Swanepoel and Windsor in GeoLogic Mapping and Hydrogeology, Windsor and senior Maddy Bygd in Invasive Species, seniors Andrew Marshall and Luke Timper in Its About Time, Luke Timper and Swenson in Microbe Mission, Bygd, senior Peyton Hellmann, and senior Samantha Merkel in Protein Modeling, Owen and Swenson in Wind Power, and junior Maxwell Engel and Swenson in Wright Stuff.
Silver medals were earned by Timper and Bygd in Anatomy & Physiology, Windsor and Swanepoel in Dynamic Planet, Anderson and Wienke in Wind Power, and sophomores Brennan Wheeldon and Sean Best in Wright Stuff. Bronze medals were earned by Marshall and Engel in Air Trajectory and Green Generation, freshmen Mark Timper and Sarah Kapsner in Wind Power and sophomores Emmett Kapsner and Rian Corr in Wright Stuff. Fourth place medals were earned by Emmett Kapsner and Corr in Air Trajectory, Bygd, Hellmann, and Merkel in Experimental Design, and Luke Timper and Swenson in Robot Arm.
