A Word to the Wise – 1-6-2016

Is it possible to never hunger or thirst again? Physically, no.
If one’s health is normal, he will hunger and thirst for food and drink which are necessary for the maintenance of good health. Isn’t it wonderful how that the Lord has given us so many good things to eat and drink? But there is another dimension of eating and drinking and that is the spiritual aspect. Before one comes to faith in Christ, he is never really satisfied regarding the condition of his soul. Some may think otherwise, but deep inside there is always a striving to find satisfaction and real security. The answer to that hungering and thirsting of soul is found in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “…I am the bread of life; he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst” (Jn. 6:35). When we believe that Jesus died for our sins and we trust Him as our Savior, the hungering and thirsting for satisfaction are over because Christ is the satisfaction of the believer’s heart and soul. It is a glorious reality to come to the place of complete satisfaction in Him.
