Senior Andrew Marshall selected as Menomonie Optimist Club Youth of the Month for November
The Menomonie Optimist Club provides Boyceville High School with the opportunity to recognize the achievements and efforts of an outstanding senior student. The selected student is then recognized as the Youth of the Month.
Andrew Marshall was selected to represent Boyceville High School as Menomonie Optimist Youth of the Month for November. Andrew is the son of Jeffery and Hayley Marshall, of Knapp.
The program statement from the Menomonie Optimist Club describes the qualities and attributes that made Andrew a great choice.
“The purpose of the Optimist Club is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life: to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community, and the world.”
To recognize his accomplishments there was an Awards Banquet held in Menomonie on November 18th. Boyceville High School staff member, Mr. Andy Hamm had the opportunity to introduce Andrew and talk about his achievements, both in school and our community. Andrew is a member of the National Honor Society, a Science Olympiad Team member, and an integral part of the Drama Club. Andrew has been heavily involved in Science Olympiad, earning numerous awards in multiple categories of competitions throughout his high school career. He has earned over 40 medals in competition including 7 State medals, 12 Regional medals, 4 Regional Title Awards, and 3 National Invitational medals. Andrew has also been involved extensively in the Drama Club and their play productions. He had supportive roles in “Café Murder”, “Cinderella” and lead roles in “The Purloined Letter” and “Dinner at Eight, Dead by Nine”. Andrew has been a valuable leader, supportive team member and a positive role model for his peers. His academic focus and commitment to leadership has made Andrew a wonderful choice for the Optimist Award.
This fall Andrew will be attending the University of Wisconsin Stout pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.
