Dunn County Clerk of Circuit Court, Clara D. Minor, and Register in Probate, Lisa Crouse, announce that beginning January 4, 2016, Dunn County Courts will be paperless. This means that hard files will no longer be available for review. If you need to review a file for a specific document you will need to use the public access terminals at the Judicial Center.
From the terminals you can also request copies of documents for purchase.
In addition the Clerk of Courts and Register in Probate offices will be scanning all older files as time allows and after 48 hours – the required retention period after scanning a file – the hard file will be destroyed.
If you are a party in a civil, family or small claims action and use e-Filing you have access to all documents in that particular case 24 hours a day.
The e-Filing option is encouraged to be accessed by all court users including attorneys and individuals not represented by an attorney. Four advantages to e-File are:
1. Access to court system and documents 24 hours a day;
2. Time and cost savings (no time away from work and postage savings);
3. Low cost to participate – a minimal fee per case; and
4. Filers simply access http://www.wicourts.gov, register online and you are ready to begin to file cases – no special software is needed for filers.
For more information and to view an online demonstration, access: http://www.wicourts.gov – click on eFile/eCourts and then click on circuit court eFiling to get started.
