Walker approves improvement project at Menomonie Municipal Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced $676,285 in funding for planning, design and construction work at Menomonie Municipal Airport. Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), noted that funds will be used to review and evaluate the existing hangar areas on the airport for future hangar development, including site prep and taxiway layouts.

• Federal Aviation Administration = $608,655

The planning and design is underway with construction expected in 2016 or 2017.

Menomonie Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
