Colfax Rural Lutheran Parish congregations gathered on the Roger and Arlene Hone farm northeast of Colfax to harvest 15 acres of corn which will be used to assist farmers in developing lands.

After winning the Dunn-St. Croix Conference title, the Colfax boy’s cross country team went on to win the sectional title and qualified for the state meet.

On the gridiron, Colfax defeated Elk Mound for the first time since 1998 by a score of 30-8. Dakota Smith intercepted two Mounder passes and ran one back for a touchdown and also scored on a 23 yard run. Both teams qualified for playoffs with 5-2 conference records.

Colfax seniors Malayna Halvorson and Brian Buchner were named First American Bank-Bremer September Youths of the Month.

A daughter, Jackie Marie Brown, was born Oct. 22 to Dennis and Debbie Brown.

A son, Adam James Krall, was born Sept. 21 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, to Jim and Heidi Krall of Colfax.

After being tied for first place at the end of round-robin play in the volleyball sectional with Grantsburg and Cameron, the Colfax girls were eliminated from champion consideration because they had three losses in individual games while Grantsburg had only two. If they had won the title, they would have been the first team from the Dunn-St. Croix Conference to qualify for state.

Elk Mound posted a pair of shut outs in WIAA football playoff action 35-0 over Cochrane-Fountain City and 14-0 over Somerset.

A son named Matthew Jonathon was born to Manny and Sandy Hoeft of Elk Mound Oct. 25 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

Fran and Donna Fedie (Dreger) are the parents of a daughter, Jennifer Donna born Oct. 28 at Mondovi Hospital.

Colfax sophomore Renee Scheidecker placed first in the West Central Area Soil and Water Conservation speaking contest senior division while sixth grader Beth Higbie was first in the elementary division.

Airman Juanita R. Ritchie of Colfax has been assigned to Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi after completing basic training.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fjelsted will observe their golden wedding anniversary Nov. 7 with an open house at their home.

Bill Railton of Chetek became the new owner of Duane’s Dairy Service which he purchased from Duane Haugle here in the village.

Patricia Ann Ovren of Elk Mound became the bride of Gary L. DeMoe of Kenosha at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church Oct. 23.

Fire of undetermined origin completely destroyed the barn on the Hogan Knutson farm, causing a loss of $4,000.

After defeating Spring Valley 38-12 on the football field, Colfax will celebrate homecoming with their final game against Ellsworth. Reigning over homecoming festivities is queen Luana Andrews.

Miss Elaine Holm of Colfax and Wallace Bjork of Elk Mound were married Oct. 14 at the Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church.

Marriage vows were exchanged between Sonja Rostamo of Colfax and Robert Moore of Park Falls at Rockford, Ill.

November 5, 1915

While driving his auto to town from his home in Hay Creek settlement, Andrew Hummer met his death under the car when it “turned turtle.” Fred Bowers was riding with him but escaped uninjured.

At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. O.G. Kinney Wednesday occurred the marriage of their daughter Olga to Robert L. Ross.

Complaints are coming from farmers north of town that somebody has taken the liberty to use the public highway in that locality as a public dumping ground and the rubbish thus dumped has been blown broadcast over the fields.
