The Community Foundation of Dunn County is pleased to announce the availability of new Teacher Mini Grant funds to support Dunn County schools this fall.
At their September meeting, the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee approved 12 grant awards totaling over $33,000 to various community initiatives for the Foundation’s August grant cycle. After the final grant decisions, there was a small amount of granting dollars remaining. Instead of leaving the funds to roll over for next year, the committee wanted the funds to be put to use in the community now.
The Committee decided that the remaining funds be used to support education in Dunn County in the form of teacher mini-grants for Boyceville and Colfax schools. The Foundation currently manages a teacher mini-grant fund and application process for the School District of the Menomonie Area, and the Grants Committee wanted to help the other schools in Dunn County have the same opportunity. These funds will be made available immediately in the form of cash grants to teachers in Boyceville and Colfax before the end of 2015.
“We are pleased to be able to utilize these community granting dollars to support education in Dunn County. As school budgets are being cut, we felt that providing start-up funds for teacher mini grants would be a great way to help meet immediate needs in our county – especially in support of our rural communities.” – Dr. Clint Moses, Grants Committee Chair.
The Community Foundation is optimistic that this effort will help allow both Boyceville and Colfax School Districts to establish their own, permanent Teacher Mini-Grant fund and offer grants annually. For this to happen, additional community support is needed. The funds will be awarded through a competitive grant process for programs or projects that help enhance the learning of students in their school district. The application is available to all School District of Colfax and Boyceville Community School District faculty. The grant deadline is November 1st and typical awards range from $250-$1,500 each.
With community support, this opportunity will be made available annually. Tax deductible contributions are currently being accepted to support the Teacher Mini-Grant Fund for either Boyceville or Colfax schools. Please make checks payable to: CFDC-Boyceville Teacher Mini Grants or CFDC – Colfax Teacher Mini Grants and send to the Community Foundation of Dunn County at P.O. Box 498, Menomonie, WI 54751. Donations can also be made online by visiting http://cfdunncounty.org/give/donate/ and choosing the Teacher Mini-Grant fund name from the dropdown menu.
