Glenhaven Auxiliary holds Oct. 6 meeting
Bonnie Cronk called our October 6, 2015 meeting to order. Ruth Herdahl Neumann read the minutes of the September meeting. Jean Booth, treasurer, filed a report on the proceeds of the Fall Luncheon/raffle and the Rustic Lore Pie Social.
Nicole now has baskets for the wheeled cart we purchased and she is stocking them with cards, magazines, treats and items the residents can purchase, along with magazines and reading materials. She plans to wheel it around to the resident’s rooms once a week.
Friday, November 4th is our Fall Bake Sale from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. This event will also be the Grand Opening of Glenhaven’s Cranetown Café. We will be serving coffee and baked goods all day and at 11 a.m. will begin serving a variety of soups and sandwiches. In addition to selling our donated baked goods that day, Glenhaven staff asked for our help with baking and frosting turnovers, making lefse, pies, and cinnamon and caramel rolls. Volunteer will help residents and staff with baking beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, November 5th. Once again, we’ll have a Silent Auction with gift baskets and donated items.
The annual Care Tree Lighting will be held on December 6th. The program will begin at 3:45 p.m. with the Dunn Dulcimers and the Bartz Brothers providing the entertainment. After the tree lighting ceremony, we will be serving a dinner of chicken and biscuits. The kickoff for the Care Tree event will take place on October 31st at the St. John’s Bazaar where Judy Upthall and Karen Stoner will be selling individual memorial lights and strings of lights for the Christmas tree.
Donations for the Rehab Department’s kitchen continue to come in but some pans and utensils are still needed. Contact Nicole for a list if you want to donate some of your extra kitchen equipment.
Volunteers have been requested for Glenhaven’s fall cleanup day on Monday, November 23rd at 10 a.m. We’ll need to prune some plants and clear flower beds following the hard freeze.
Our Spring Luncheon is scheduled on April 22, 2016. We will consider sponsoring a poster contest for the school children then.
Judy Upthall made a motion and Charl Draxler seconded the motion to adjourn. Our next meeting will be on March 8th at 10 a.m. in the Glenhaven conference room. New members are always very welcome.
