Boyceville sweeps Mondovi in D-SC volleyball opener
BOYCEVILLE — There is just no place like home.
Boyceville opened Dunn-St. Croix conference volleyball play with an impressive three-set home sweep of Mondovi last Tuesday, September 15. The victory was the Lady Bulldogs’ only action last week.
Boyceville, 1-0 in conference action and 9-5 overall, had double-digit wins in the first and third sets but had to battle hard before squeezing out a two-point victory in the middle set. The Bulldogs upended the Buffaloes 25-11, 25-23 and 25-14 in the three-set win in the Dog House.
“Overall the girls played hard,” noted Boyceville head coach, Corrie Roemhild. “It was nice to get the first conference win under our belt.”
“The girls wanted to come out strong and they did,” added Roemhild. “In the second set, we let our guard down and struggled early on but after a time out, we were much more determined and focused and came back for a close win.”
No other details including players and team statistics for the match were made available.
Boyceville will be back in action this week with a pair of conference matches and a tournament. The Bulldogs hosted Plum City last night (September 22) and will travel to conference newcomer Durand Thursday. They will then play in the Cameron Invitational this Saturday, September 26 before returning home on Tuesday, September 29 to host Spring Valley.
