MADISON – Governor Scott Walker signed Senate Bill 40 into law.
Senate Bill 40 – Relates to setoffs against tax refunds for debts acquired through ambulance services. This bill allows counties and municipalities to certify private debts owed to private ambulance services operating on behalf of a county or municipality to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) if the debt relates to providing ambulance services to individuals in that municipality or county. Authored by Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls) and Representative Paul Tittl (R-Manitowoc), it passed the Senate on a voice vote and was concurred by the Assembly on a voice vote; it is Act 59.
