Two men with Glenwood ties take positions in New Richmond

Two men with ties to Glenwood City have taken important positions in New Richmond. Patrick Olson will become the new Superintendent of Schools in New Richmond and Raymond Rivard will take over the duties as editor of the New Richmond News.

Olson, who hails from Ormsby, Minnesota, taught sixth grade in Glenwood City and was head basketball coach of the Hilltoppers for three years starting in 2008. Olson has been superintendent at Prairie Farm since 2013 and served as principal there since 2010. He had previously taught in New Richmond and Turtle Lake. Olson is married to the former Holly Logghe of Glenwood City. Olson will take over the superintendent’s duties on July 1st from current superintendent Jeff Moberg.

Rivard, the son of Glenwood City resident Mary Rivard and the late Richard Rivard will assume the editor’s post at the New Richmond News on July 29. Rivard said “the move will bring me closer to family members.”

Rivard is currently the editor of The Lakeland Times, a twice-weekly newspaper with a circulation of 8,800 at Minocqua, Wisconsin, where he has served for the past 15 years. Before that he was with the newspaper at Phillips, Wisconsin. Rivard will be replacing Micheal Foley who has accepted a position with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
