Tillie’s Annual Food Drive, co-hosted by the three St. Croix Casinos, has lent a helping hand to food pantries in northwest Wisconsin since 1993. This year’s drive, held June 1 to 6, was no exception: Thanks to almost 4,000 generous casino guests, St. Croix Casino Danbury, St. Croix Casino Hertel Express and St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake collected 14,000 pounds of food donations.
The casino delivery crew, Elizabeth Denniston, Patty Frie, Sanford Mosay, Marvin “Tom” Tahmahkera and Judy Warmanen of St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake, distributed the food donations to 23 charities June 8-11. The following charities received food from this year’s drive: Ain-Da-Ing, Spooner; Amery Area Food Pantry, Amery; Barron Food Pantry, Barron; Birchwood Food Pantry, Birchwood; Burnett County Connections, Webster; Cameron Food Pantry, Cameron; Chetek Food Pantry, Chetek; Cumberland Food Pantry, Cumberland; Family Pathways, Frederic; Family Pathways, St. Croix Falls; Five Loaves Food Pantry, New Richmond; Grace Place, New Richmond; Hayward Community Food Pantry, Hayward; Lifeline Food Pantry, Clear Lake; Loaves and Fishes, Luck; The Open Cupboard, Osceola; St. Croix Falls Food Pantry, St. Croix Falls; Stone Lake Emergency Food Pantry, Hayward; Turtle Lake Food Pantry, Turtle Lake; Washburn County Connections, Spooner; Washburn County Food Pantry, Spooner; We Share Food Pantry, Rice Lake; WestCAP, Glenwood City.
Over the past 23 years, the casinos’ annual food drive has collected and distributed 415,000 pounds of food to food pantries in Barron, Burnett, Dunn, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix and Washburn counties.
