Glenhaven Auxiliary holds meeting

submitted by Ruth Herdahl Neumann, Secretery

The proceeds from our spring luncheon totaled $641.00. Dave Prissel reported that the Glenhaven thrift sale, held the same day, raised about $1,000 to be used to purchase physical therapy equipment.

Volunteers are needed to help with Bingo and the residents’ gardens. Their raised planters are located near the upper level entrance.

Fall Luncheon and Raffle will be Friday, September 25th. Each Auxiliary member has five books of tickets to sell at $1 each or a book of 6 tickets for $5. Tickets are also available at Hiawatha Bank, All That and More and at the Glenhaven reception desk. Raffle prizes: a quilt made by Joy DeWyre and Mary Thorson, a painting by Paulette Klatt, an afghan by Louise Jeske, an ornamental bug by Gordy Cronk, gift basket by Judy Knox as well as cash prizes. Jean Booth is in charge of the raffle.

St. Croix County Fair – July 15 – 19: Volunteers are needed to set up and staff our display booth. We’ll be selling raffle tickets and a motion was made by Betty Jean Smith and seconded by Dolly Donovan to have daily door prizes. Judy Knox will assemble prize baskets.

Boyceville Cucumber Festival – August 14 to 16: Ruth Herdahl Neumann and Betty Jean Smith volunteered to set up a display and sell raffle tickets on Sunday and possibly on Saturday evening.

Decorative Pillows: We had decided to purchase pillows for the couches and chairs in the common areas of the facility. Dave explained they need to be fireproof and brought a pillow for our approval. He will further research possibilities.

Rustic Lore Days. We will serve pie, ice cream and coffee on Sunday, September 13th. Each member should bring 2 homemade pies and consider working at the pie social. We will sell Raffle tickets and have our quilt on display.

Our next meeting will be held on September 8th. At that time we will discuss a November bake sale and coffee and the Care Tree lighting to be held the first weekend in December. Jane and Friends will be entertaining.

We approved the purchase of a moveable sales cart so that Glenhaven residents can purchase cards, stamps and other items. There was discussion about purchasing a second Coffee pot for Households B and C.

Motion to adjoin was made by Connie Anderson and seconded by Dolly Donovan.
