MADISON — Glenwood City senior Jake Hierlmeier shot a 14-over-par 86 Monday in Madison and sits in a three-way tie for 19th place on the Division 3 individual leaderboard after the first day of play at the 2015 WIAA Boys’ State Golf tournament.
The final round of golf was to conclude yesterday, June 9.
Hierlmeier had a rough start to his third and final state meet. He was over par on six of the first nine holes including a five-over-par ten on number six to finish with a score of 47 on the front nine. But Hierlmeier finished strong, recording five pars and a birdie for a back-nine score of 39.
Mineral Point’s Taylor Ryman shot a 75 on the par-72 University Ridge Golf Course Monday to take the round one lead. Spring Valley freshman Tyler Leach is currently in a second-place tie after hitting a 77 on Monday.
The Cardinals are third in the team rankings with a 349, 12 strokes off the Division 3 lead held by St. Mary’s Springs.
