Dr. Lucas Wolf joins Family ChiroCare

By LeAnn R. Ralph

GLENWOOD CITY —  Family ChiroCare has added another chiropractor to the staff.

Dr. Lucas Wolf recently joined the staff at the Family ChiroCare Chiropractic Clinic in Glenwood City, 144 East Oak Street.

Dr. Wolf, who is originally from Elmwood, graduated in April from the chiropractic school at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota, following an internship at Family ChiroCare that began in January and ended in early April.

“(After) starting college, I knew I wanted to be involved in the health care field in some way, and after doing some research, I started to consider chiropractic,” Dr. Wolf said.

Lucas Wolf graduated from Elmwood High School in 2007. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Winona State University, and he began chiropractic school in January of 2012.

“I had been to a chiropractor a little bit growing up, so I was familiar with it. I also really love the natural aspect of chiropractic, so I knew it was the right choice for me,” Dr. Wolf said.

“Family ChiroCare is very excited to have Dr. Luke join our office. He is a very honest and competent doctor that will treat his patients with great care. He is expanding the office hours to become more available for our patients and to accommodate everyone’s busy schedule. I believe he and his wife, Megan, will be a great asset to Family ChiroCare as we continue to grow,” said Dr. Lance Albrightson.

Internship

Dr. Wolf said he was delighted to be able to complete part of his internship at Family ChiroCare.

The last four trimesters of chiropractic school include an internship along with the classes. The first internship takes place in the student clinic at the school. The remaining internships can be at clinics outside of the school that have been pre-approved, Dr. Wolf explained.

For two of the internships, Dr. Wolf filled out a form indicating where he would like to intern and what his interests entailed.

“Then the school randomly assigned me to a clinic that matched my preferences as much as possible,” he said.

For the final internship, students are allowed to intern wherever they want as long as the clinic applies with the school and the school approves, Dr. Wolf said.

“I chose Family ChiroCare as my final internship after shadowing Dr. Albrightson and Dr. Kaiser a few times throughout school,” he said.

“I also went to school with Dr. Albrightson’s nephew, so I knew of Family ChiroCare growing up. Another benefit was being back closer to home. I am originally from Elmwood, so Glenwood City was a great opportunity,” Dr. Wolf said.

“After growing up in a small community, I knew I wanted to work in a similar situation. Throughout school, all of my internships were in much larger cities, and I really missed the small-town atmosphere. After having a great experience during my internship at Family ChiroCare, having the opportunity to start my chiropractic career there was something I couldn’t pass up,” he said.

In addition to studying chiropractic, one of the most enjoyable aspects of chiropractic school for Dr. Wolf was the diversity of the other students.

“It was great getting to know other students from all over the country. Everyone came from very diverse backgrounds,” he said.

Football and golf

As for pastimes and hobbies, Dr. Wolf said he enjoyed playing football in college and that now he enjoys playing golf.

“While attending undergrad at Winona State University, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play football. I played four seasons at Winona, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nowadays, my new passion is golf. I love playing golf whenever I have some extra time,” he said.

“If anyone is looking to play sometime, let me know. I never turn down a chance to go golfing!” Dr. Wolf said.

Dr. Wolf’s wife, Megan, also is originally from Elmwood.

“We are currently living in Baldwin while my wife works in marketing at a company in Prescott. We are both very excited for this opportunity and are looking forward to meeting everyone in the Glenwood City community,” Dr. Wolf said.
