The 2014 volunteer recognition luncheon was held at Ready Randy’s Banquet Facility on Friday, April 24. The volunteers offer assistance with our congregate and home-delivered nutrition programs, DayAway – Adult Day Respite Program and transportation to people who need to get to medical appointments. They also serve on boards and assist with office tasks. The ADRC of St. Croix County has more than 300 volunteers who help older people live independently in their own homes.
Volunteers play such big role in our community. They helped pack and deliver 21,154 home-delivered meals and assisted with serving 28,196 meals at nine nutrition sites in 2014. The volunteer drivers provided over 880 rides to medical appointments in 2014. The volunteers affiliated with the ADRC of St. Croix County provided over 15,598 volunteer hours valued $235,660. Thank you volunteers you truly make a difference in the lives of residents of St. Croix County.
Several local business donated plants to the volunteer luncheon. They include Baldwin Greenhouse, County Market of Hudson, Family Fresh of New Richmond, Farrill’s Sunrise Nursery of Hudson, Hudson Flower Shop of Hudson, Nilssen’s Super Valu of Baldwin, and Pearson Florist and Greenhouse of River Falls. The donated plants were given as door prizes.
The St. Croix Central Jazz Band entertained the guests with great music this year.
The names of the individual volunteers were published in the April issue of the Aging and Disability Resource Center News (ADRC News). If you are interested in helping seniors of St. Croix County, contact the ADRC for more information at 1-800-372-2333.
