Vehicle versus train on Highway 128
GLENWOOD CITY — On Tuesday, February 17 the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to an accident on Highway 128, approximately 4 miles north of Glenwood City just before 12:00 p.m.
The call was for an SUV versus a train. The driver of the 2002 Ford Explorer was Juventino Ramirez, 37 from St. Paul. Ramirez had failed to stop for the flashing lights and that is when he struck the rear axle of the first train car.
Ramirez fled the scene and was not present by the time the police arrived; the call came in from the Conductor of the Canadian National train that was traveling west.
Ramirez was cited for failure to report an accident, failure to stop for railroad flashing lights and operating without a valid driver’s license.
