Several reports of an IRS phone scam have be given to the local law enforcement agencies in the last few weeks.
The scam has been an ongoing issue, but has once again flared up in the surrounding area with people receiving phone calls from the “IRS”. The caller claims the person is being audited and personal information is needed.
The IRS and Law Enforcement want to remind people that no phone calls, emails, or anything over the internet will be conducted by the actual IRS.
If you are being audited or are being contacted by the IRS for any type of issue, concern, etc. a certified letter will be received in the mail.
If you find yourself on the receiving end of one of this scams, just hang up and report the phone call to the Treasury Department’s investigative website.
