The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation recently announced the formation of its Heritage Society to recognize donors that have remembered 4-H through planned or legacy giving. These gifts are special because the individual’s legacy lives on through Wisconsin 4-H.
Initial members of the Heritage Society include Mary Kay Merwin, John Brunnquell and Valerie Johnson. Mary Kay is an alumnus of the 100-year-old Linn 4-H Club in Walworth County and has spent her entire career in 4-H in Wisconsin, Texas, Washington, D.C. and New York before retiring and returning to Wisconsin. John Brunnquell believes that 4-H is the incubator of future leaders, and there is a responsibility to pay it forward to give future leaders opportunities. Valerie Johnson, Rock County 4-H alumna, credits her 4-H experience with developing her speaking skills and preparing her for a career filled with international travel. “Planned gifts can help ensure the future of programs for 4-H youth in Wisconsin,” says Johnson. “Maybe you recognize the value 4-H played in your own life, saw the impact of 4-H by watching your children develop through educational programs, or led a youth program, but no matter how you learned about 4-H, you know it can be the key to a brighter future for our youth, our families and our communities.”
Planned gifts can honor a loved one or celebrate your career or family, all while helping ensure 4-H will be there for future generations. Gifts can build a legacy and support programs you value while maximizing tax benefits for you and your family.
