BOYCEVILLE — The Lady Bulldogs hosted their first game of the season last Friday night with the Regis Ramblers as the opponent and as the victor.
The Ramblers stepped onto the court after completing a run at the state tournament last year, which ended in a loss to Cuba City in the semifinals.
Their competitiveness continued into this new season as they beat the Bulldogs 65-30 for their first game of the year as well.
The Bulldogs trailed slightly in the first quarter with a five point difference of 11-6.
The Bulldogs were on the board after Morgan Kuhn drained a three pointer, Shyanne Marlett tossed in a shot off the glass for two and Cassie Malean had a free throw.
The game changer then came in the second quarter as they only scored three points against the Rambler’s 17 for 28-9 score going into the half.
Brooklyn Hellmann made the sole shot of the quarter with a triple banked in.
Out of the break, the Bulldogs appeared to be out of their slump with 15 points scored, which was a tie against the Ramblers.
Hellmann had yet another three pointer for the team and Lexi Peterson drained one as well.
Madysn Riek was active at the net with two doubles and a free throw and Marlett knocked down another double as well. Marlett and Kuhn each had a free throw as well.
Allowing the Ramblers to score 15 points however put the score at 43-24 going into the final quarter.
The Ramblers push in the dagger in the fourth quarter after they blew up the court with 22 points posted. They allowed the Bulldogs just a handful of shots for six points, which put the final at 65-30.
Scoring their final points of the game was Marlett with a double and two free throws and Hellmann and Peterson each had one free throw as well.
Marlett led the team in points with nine. Hellmann followed with seven for her first full varsity game. Riek was next with five points, Kuhn and Peterson both had four and Malean finished with one free throw.
The Bulldogs were back on the court Tuesday, November 25 with their first game of the conference season played against Colfax.
