Glenhaven has donation challenge from now until Christmas
By Kelsie Hoitomt
GLENWOOD CITY — From now until Christmas Day, two anonymous donors have each pledged to match donations up to $100,000 which will go towards the construction and remodeling of Glenhaven, Inc.
This means for every dollar donated, it will actually equal three dollars.
Since late 2013, Glenhaven, Inc. has received approximately $100,000 in donations for the new building project.
Glenhaven’s total contribution goal is $700,000, which will cover the cost of fully completing the new 44 room Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility and updating the existing nursing home facility into a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF).
The items these contributions would cover include the child care center, cafe, tavern, etc.
The current Glenhaven building will turn into the CBRF facility, which has been named “Grand Oaks”.
The CBRF will include 16 apartments with eight one-bedroom apartments and eight efficiency apartments.
This will serve as an additional assisted living facility and will offer more medical services than Havenwood in a residential setting.
The tentative date for the completion of the remodel is December of 2015. Once that is finished, the apartments will be available to new residents.
As far as the new addition, the grand opening date is scheduled for the end of March, just four shorts months away.
In order to completely finish the projects at hand, further donations are needed. Glenhaven, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means all donations are tax deductible.
Glenhaven is offering naming opportunities for donors as well. This is a way for donors to attribute their name, a business name and/or a family member’s name to a particular section of the building.
Donors can choose to just simply donate money to Glenhaven or they can personalize their donation to a specific area such as the child care center, the cafe, the tavern, the board room, the theatre, a sitting area or other various areas or items.
The child care center is in need of the largest donation, which is $180,000. Currently the area is being used as storage for the construction supplies and will remain unfinished until funds are received.
This is an important piece of the puzzle as child care will bring more employment opportunities to the community.
Glenhaven, Inc. is increasing in size from 15,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet, which will add employment opportunities across the board.
As one of the largest employers in town, this significantly increases that status with the physical therapy room opening, cafe and then soon the child care area.
For those who are interested in donating and would like a complete list of naming opportunities and donations needed, they are encouraged to stop by the main office at Glenhaven.
The office is also where donations can be dropped off or they can be mailed to 612 East Oak Street in Glenwood City. For more information or inquires call 715-265-4555.
In order to help raise the funds needed, those on the fundraising committee are encouraging all employees to see if their company offers a matching program.
With the Thanksgiving holiday this week, the committee along with the entire staff at Glenhaven would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to everyone who has donated.
The donations received are truly creating a place for people to live and enjoy their later years of life while experiencing a real sense of community that will be around them every day.
