Two growing concerns impact drivers of all ages – cell phone use while driving and texting while driving.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reminds drivers that texting while driving is against the law. A new law broadened the definition of inattentive driving to include anything that “interferes or reasonably appears to interfere” with safe driving. (Wis. Stats 346.89)
Wisconsin’s laws are clear for novice drivers – no texting; no cell phone use (either handheld or hands-free). The goal is to keep teen drivers’ focus off their smartphones and on the road.
