By Kelsie Hoitomt

COLFAX — The volleyball season came to a close last Tuesday for the Glenwood City Hilltoppers after they lost three sets to the Colfax Vikings.

The match was the first Regional game of the tournament and the Vikings went on to win after final sets of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-9.

The Toppers had three service aces with the first of the night coming from Nikki Gabbert, which was the teams first point of the game as well.

Carlee Strong followed with an ace of her own and the Toppers led 3-2 before the Vikings took control of their home court.

As a team the Toppers had a total of 37 serves, 31 digs and eight kills.

Hannah Ludtke, Becca Moll and Jenesa Klinger each landed two kills and Mikaela Voeltz and Sam Holldorf each had one. Klinger also had a service ace.

“Overall it was a good season and a big step up from last year,” shared coach Christa Blaser. “There was a lot of improvement all around and I am very proud of the ladies. Their confidence and drive to become better and willingness to work for it is a great thing to be a part of.”

The Toppers finished 1-8 in the Dunn-St. Croix with a victory over Elmwood in late September.
