BARRON — The Hilltopper cross country team was in Barron last Tuesday and they had quite the evening with the girls’ team placing second out of 12 and the boys finished seventh out of 13.
Seven scores were recorded, which amounted to a total of 90 points for the girls’ team. First went to Ashland with a total of 78.
As for the boys, they scored a 167 and first again went to Ashland with a 47.
Leading the girls’ team and earning three points for her third place finish was Taylor Drinkman with a time of 21:00.4.
A few paces in front of her was Cora Bruxvoort from Bloomer and she ran a 20:36.9 for first out of a total of 119 participants.
Freshman runner Makayla O’Brien was second for the Topper team and she placed 15th with a time of 22:39.5.
Then it was senior Kaitlin Konder in 19th with a time of 22:52.1. Following her was Morgan Kadinger in 21st with a time of 23:08.1.
Running fifth and 33rd overall was Elizabeth Wink with a time of 23:56.9 and then Macie Rasmussen followed in 40th with a 24:17.5.
Finishing out the top seven was Emma Scholler in 75th overall with a time of 26:32.1.
Tia Carlson also competed for the Lady Toppers and she finished in 113th with a time of 32:31.6.
Out front for the boys’ team was Riley Schutz. He placed 20th overall out of 133 runners with a time of 19:21.9.
First place in the boys’ race was Dan Pederson from Spooner with a time of 16:33.4.
Following Riley was Jack Kremer in 27th with a time of 19:38.9 and then it was Matthew Wink in 32nd with a 20:04.1
Owen Wagner was next with a time of 20:15.9, which landed him in 40th.
Rounding out the rest of the seven was Andrew Bauman in 55th (21:09.9), Corey Klatt in 63rd (21:32.1) and Matthew Bauman in 76th (22:03.9).
Next on the schedule is an invitational at the Spring Valley High School this Thursday, October 2 starting at 4:30 p.m.
They will then head to Amery on Tuesday, October 7 for another after school invite that begins at 4:15.
