GLENWOOD CITY — The Glenhaven Auxiliary board met on September 8th at 10 a.m. in the Havenwood activity room. President Bonnie Cronk called the meeting to order. Secretary, Ruth Herdahl Neumann, read the minutes of the past meeting and Jean Booth gave the Treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.
Many people visited the Glenhaven / Havenwood booth at the St. Croix County Fair and three women expressed an interest in joining the Auxiliary.
Approximately 50 pies were donated for the pie social held during the Rustic Lore parade. It was such a success that we’ve decided to continue hosting it again next year.
At only $10 each, we’ve already sold seventy of our ‘I Support Glenhaven’ T-shirts so we’ve decided to order three dozen more of the popular shirts.
Our raffle ticket drawing took place at the Fall Luncheon on September 26th. We will post a picture of the raffle quilt on the Glenhaven Face Book page and we have many more prizes, too. Louise Jeske challenged all of us by turning in $500 in raffle ticket proceeds at our meeting. (Thanks, Jeske family.)
Many of the residents struggle to use the standard remote controls that come with their television sets so Glenhaven has asked the auxiliary to provide new remotes with larger and easy-to-read buttons. Following some discussion, we decided to donate all proceeds from our Fall Luncheon toward the purchase of the remotes.
When Glenhaven and Havenwood Administrator, Dave Prissel gave an update on the progress of the new building he pointed out that the Havenwood facility has 18,000 square feet and the present Glenhaven facility has 15,000 square feet but the new facility being built will have 50,000 square feet. That includes space to be utilized by the residents and the surrounding community as well. Dave also noted that the Glenhaven Board of Directors would hold their Third Annual October Fest fundraiser on October 23rd. Once again, the event will feature beer and wine tasting along with ethnic German food.
