GLENWOOD CITY — The second annual “Terror In The Glen” Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Run throughout the Glen Hills County Park is scheduled for Saturday, October 18.
The course takes runners throughout the trails and into the woods over rocks, roots, washouts and past woodland creatures and Glen Lake as well.
Since this is a Halloween themed event, runners are encouraged to dress up, but remember to wear appropriate gear for the trail conditions.
Online registration is currently open until October 13, but registration the day of the race is available as well at a cost increase of $10.
Costs prior to the October 13 date are $40 for the 5K, $45 for the 10K, and $50 for the Half Marathon.
This year a black and green themed long sleeve shirt and bag are available to those who register online, but supplies may be limited on race day.
On Saturday morning, the schedule of events begins at 8:00 a.m. with registration and packet pickup starting at that time.
Then at 9:00 a.m. the 10K and Half Marathon race will begin and at 9:15 a.m. the 5K runners will take off.
The marathon run is a timed race. Those who participate will have to complete the first loop of the 10K in less than one hour and 30 minutes in order to continue otherwise they will be given a 10K event time.
A water bottle is encouraged, but there will also be aid stations located at the start and finish as well as at the three mile marker, the four and half mile marker, the nine mile marker and at the ten and a half.
After each race, there will be a brief awards ceremony and door prizes will also be drawn throughout the morning.
This year the funds raised will again go towards the Topper Partnership Foundation at the Glenwood City School District, which provides scholarships and financial support for post-high school education.
Last year was a huge success and those who participated were able to raise and donate $5,632.22 to the school and the students.
More information can be found on the “2014 Terror in the Glen Trail Run” Facebook page or via the St. Croix County’s website.
The event will take place at the park entrance and boat landing area of Glen Hills, which is on Rustic Road 3; not at the campground entrance near the golf course.
