Cross Country teams compete at SCC before a break from competition

HAMMOND – Last Thursday, the Glenwood City and Boyceville Cross Country teams competed on the St. Croix Central course with a total of 12 teams in the girls’ race and 13 in the boys’.
[emember_proteced] The Lady Toppers placed highest of the day with a total of 92 points for third and the Lady Bulldogs finished tenth with 236 points. First place went to Prescott with a 66.
As for the boys’ teams, the Toppers finished in sixth with a total of 194 points and the Bulldogs were in ninth with a 204. First went to SCC with a 77.
There were 107 girl runners and 154 boys total.
The Lady Toppers were again led by the duo of Morgan Kadinger and Taylor Drinkman. Kadinger ran a 22:20.17 for fourth place and Drinkman followed with a 22:32.14 for sixth.
Makayla O’Brien ran third for the team again this week with a time of 24:47.51 for 22nd place overall.
Then it was senior Kaitlin Konder in 25th with a time of 24:56.21, which was nearly two minutes faster than her race in Boyceville.
Macie Rasmussen followed in 47th overall with a time of 26:21.40, then it was Elizabeth Wink in 52nd with a 26:50.66, a Ally Holmquist was 60th with a 27:54.15 and Emma Scholler came in 62nd with a 27:58.91.
Leading the boys’ team was Riley Schutz for his second race in a row. He ran a 20:37.62 for 23rd overall.
It was a tight running group with a matter of seconds between them and Jack Kremer crossed the line at 30th overall with a time of 20:44.47; roughly ten seconds faster than the previous week.
Nine spots back from him was Matthew Wink in 39th with a time of 21:15.15. Then it was Owen Wagner in 56th with a time of 22:13.85.
Rounding out the rest of the team was Andrew Bauman in 61st (22:22.18), Corey Klatt in 66th (22:30.03) and Matthew Bauman in 76th with a 23:08.62.
For the Bulldogs, it was Mitch Pustol who crossed the finish line first for the boys’ team. He ran an 18:58.19 for tenth place.
The first seven runners to cross the line were counted towards team points, but an additional seven for a total of 14 ran the race all together for the Boyceville boys.
Jordan Bringgold of SCC again placed first, but he wasn’t too far out in front with a time of 17:24.56.
Max Engel ran second for the team with an overall finish of 24th with a time of 20:38.23. Following him was Jack Kapsner in 55th with a time of 22:03.46 and then it was Caleb Hagen in 63rd with a 22:24.77.
Finishing out the top seven was Ian Fontaine in 71st (22:57.27), Rian Corr in 75th (23:05.55) and then Jerod Nelson in 78th (23:13.45).
Kiel Anderson ran in 89th (23:39.39), then Carter Rogers was on his heels in 90th with a 23:40.51.
Sam Retz placed 109th with a 24:50.04 and then it was Michael Chich in 117th with a 25:32.68. Urs Kahmann placed 125th with a 26:00.70, Sean Best was 145th with a 28:50.94 and Kamden Casey was 147th with a 28:59.20.
Shiann Wagner was out front for her second varsity race in a row now. She ran a 25:02.80 for 31st place. Marissa Dormanen followed in 38th with a time of 25:33.64.
Returning runner, Emma Harnisch finished third for the team with a time of 27:49.97 for 58th and following her was Brooklyn Booth in 63rd with a 28:00.79.
Brianna Foer finished for the team with a time of 33:50.56 for 99th place.
Both high school teams had over a week off from competition and will now run in Fall Creek on Saturday morning (Sept. 13) at 10:00 a.m.
They will both then travel to Barron for a meet at the UW-Barron County Campus on Tuesday, September 16 after school, starting at 4:00 p.m. [/emember_proteced]
