“Glenwoodstock” is here – Sept. 5-7

GLENWOOD CITY – Glenwood City’s Rustic Lore weekend celebration is coming this weekend, September 5-7 with a tie-dyed “Glenwoodstock” theme.

On Friday morning the city-wide garage sales will open up starting at 8:00 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. Until 1:00 p.m. the United Methodist Church will be having box lunches that can be carried out.

Then from 4-7:00 p.m. that evening, everyone is invited to the Kick-Off Picnic at the Hiawatha National Bank parking lot.

Throughout the evening, there will be the sawdust prize search on Main Street for children ages 12 and under starting at 6:00 p.m.

Also at that time the softball tournament will begin at the City Field. The games will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday as well.

At 7:00 p.m. On Main Street there will be the Cow Pie Lotto that is sponsored by the Bellringers 4-H Club.

Down at the fairgrounds at that time will be the FFA Alumni Tractor Pull. Admission is $5 with beer and food available.

The evening’s entertainment will be the Boondoggle band on Main Street under the tent from 8:30-12:30 a.m. Admission to the street dance is free.

Saturday morning’s day long festivities will begin at Hinman Park with the Brenda Cassellius-Wink Kickball Tournament at 8:00 a.m.

Also that morning the Rods and Rides Car Show will be on Main Street from 9:00-3:00 p.m.

Also starting at 9:00 a.m. and running until 5:00 p.m. will be the Glenwood City Apple Orchard’s Craft Sale. This will resume again on Sunday with the same time frame.

The Weekenders will be back again this year to play under the Main Street tent for some afternoon entertainment starting at 4:00 p.m.

That evening, the Queen’s Pageant and Coronation will be in the High School gymnasium starting at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday night’s entertainment will be October Road under the Main Street tent with free admission and music again from 8:30-12:30 a.m.

On Sunday, the BBQ Chicken Dinner will be available at the Community Center from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Pie and ice cream will also be available from 11:00-4:00 p.m. under the Main Street tent

At 1:00 p.m. the Grand Parade led by Tom and Judy Knox will begin down Main Street.

Following the parade, there will be the Kiddie Pull as well as the “Battle of the Businesses” pull on Main Street.

Then from 2:00-6:00 p.m. the M&M bar will be having outdoor music by Third Gear and starting at 2:30 p.m. there will be a bean bag tournament at Aaron and Lisa’s Boondocks.
