BOYCEVILLE – The Lady Bulldogs are back on the court for the 2014 volleyball season with four seniors, three juniors, eight sophomores and 12 freshmen on the roster thus far.

Returning to the squad this year is McKenzie Schultz, Madysn Riek, Alexa Peterson, Jenna Beyrer, Abbey Bird, Hannah Guy, Brittany Tetzlaff, Cassie Malean, Abby Lorenz, Marki Lagerstrom and Brooklyn Hellmann.

The team graduated just two seniors, April Lake and Kennedy Hellmann. Lake was a strong presence on the net and her skill set lost will be a big shoe to fill.

The team finished 5-4 in the Dunn-St. Croix with an overall record of 16-13 under the coaching of Taryn Score.

Score resigned from the head coach position and junior varsity coach, Corrie Roemhild has taken over now.

Corrie co-coached the team in 2001/2002 along side Kathy Joles and then she was also head coach in Clear Lake for four years.

She will now coach the girls along side Angela Hellmann who has taken over junior varsity.

“We return a solid nucleus of girls that saw varsity time last year,” said Roemhild. “We plan to improve each game and the finish the season strong.”

The Bulldogs got their first taste of playing time on Monday (Aug. 25) with a scrimmage in Elmwood.

They will then host a quad on Thursday (Aug. 28) against Cornell, Ladysmith and Flambeau starting at 5:00 p.m.
