Willow River Parish welcomes new minister

The Willow River Parish is excited to welcome John Hazen to the Parish. He will be the minister for a three part charge in the United Methodist Church of Forest, Deer Park and Clear Lake. Some people may have seen him perform before with the Menomonie Theater Guild at the Mabel Tainter in Menomonie. We are eager to welcome Pastor John Hazen into our local communities.

Pastor John Hazen is a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church. This is his 18th year of appointed ministry. His prior appointments were with Bay City from 1997 to 1999; Ono, Plum City, Maiden Rock from 1999 to 2011; Stanley, Thorp, Cadott from 2011 to 2014; and Forest, Deer Park, Clear Lake presently.

Pastor John Hazen completed his course of study at Garret-Evangelical Theological Seminary in 2002. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1983. He also has an Associate Degree from the University of Wisconsin Center- Barron County in Rice Lake in 1980 and went to Barron High School in 1978.

Pastor John Hazen is active in each community that he has lived in. Through the church he has a strong belief that the church should be present in the world and “taking the Good News with them”. He explained that “I believe that all we do needs to be centered on Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our Lord, Savior and example of how to live. It is Jesus whom we represent in the world. Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ I believe that is what we are to be about”. You may also find John in the community at the library or community theater. He has performed in “Anything Goes” and “Guys and Dolls” at the Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls. Before that he performed with the Menomonie Theater Guild in Menomonie, WI for 25 years. In his spare time you may find him watching a good Sci Fi movie or reading a good book.
