D-SC golfers earn 2013-14 all-conference honors

HAMMOND — To the victor, goes the spoils.

Glenwood City collected the team title and several individual honors following the conclusion of the 2014 Dunn-St. Croix Conference’s golf tournament Thursday, May 22 at Pheasant Hills Golf Course near Hammond.

The Hilltoppers’ golf team claimed its third straight conference championship winning all nine conference meets including a 19-stroke win over runner-up Mondovi in last Thursday’s 18-hole tournament.

In addition to the conference’s championship plaque, Glenwood City had four golfers earned first team all-conference honors.

Junior Jake Hierlmeier, senior Nick Mrdutt and sophomores Nathan  Mrdutt and Garrett Schemionek finished with first team all-conference honors.

For the second consecutive season, Jake Hierlmeier took the individual medalist honors as the conference’s top individual golfer. Hierlmeier edged out runner-up Hayden Ford of Mondovi by three points. Nick Mrdutt finished third in the standings followed by younger brother Nathan and Garrett Schemionek. Nick Mrdutt received the Medalist Award in 2012.
