The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is excited to announce the purchase of Ed and Judy Christensen’s property at W6982 Ridge Road near Neillsville.
After acquiring the property that has become known as The Learning Center, events, exhibits and number of visitors to The Highground continue to grow. Tremendous exhibits have been seen at the Learning Center and the popularity among veterans, families, guests and schools has been awesome to experience. The Highground was offered the opportunity to add additional space for the parking demand by the Christensen family. The Board of Directors will be making decisions as to the use of the home in the near future. With Work Week approaching in April, it will be a great opportunity for volunteers to see and help in the transformation of the property. One of the uses could be a “Welcome Center” to The Highground or office space/meeting space may be on the Board’s agenda for the property.
This opportunity could not have come at a better time explained Kirk Rodman, Volunter General Manager. The park has experienced an increase in visitors and use of the park’s forest and facilities. Instrumental in making this possible was a gift from the Listeman Foundation that helped with the down payment continues to help the Neillsville area grow. Donors interested in seeing The Highground fulfil its mission of healing and education support the project. Thank you to ALL of them.
The staff expects to open and dedicate the new facility to visitors in late 2014 or early 2015. For information about being involved in the transformation call 715-743-4224.
