CADOTT – The Glenwood City wrestlers took a road trip to Cadott last Tuesday night for a dual against the Hornets that ended in the Toppers favor, 60-24.
It was a night of pins and forfeits with each match accruing six points as there were no decisions had.
The dual started off at the Toppers’ strong point in their roster in the upper weights. It was Hogan Chouinard up first at 160 pounds and he beat Mitchell Johnson by a pin in 4:57.
The following three matches went quick and the Toppers racked up 18 points after receiving forfeits at 170, 182 and 195.
Donovan Fornal was up next at 220 pounds. His match lasted a short 52 seconds with a pin over Cole Hanson.
Brennan Kessler received a forfeit at 285 pounds and then the Hornets got their first points of the night after the Toppers forfeited at 106.
The Hornets won three consecutive matches after that to score their 24 points. Their 113 pounder, Brandon Pederson pinned Joe Obermueller in the first period.
They then received a forfeit at 120 pounds and their final win came from a pin by Tyler Gillett over Spencer Peterson.
The Toppers finished with four wins starting off with Marcus Ullom at 132 pounds. He pinned Caden Harvey in 3:28.
Damian Hoitomt followed at 138 with a pin against Cole Ackley in 2:37. Then Jake Carlson pinned Dylan Vitense late in the match and Hunter Chouinard ended the night with a pin over Dominick Grimm in 1:36.
The Toppers had a week long break from any contests, but they will be back in action this Thursday (Jan. 30) with a dual at home against St. Croix Central.
They will wrestle their final dual of the regular season on Tuesday, February 4 at home as well against Boyceville; both events start at 7:00 p.m.
