Lady Bulldogs limp away after loss to Vikings

COLFAX — The Boyceville girls’ basketball team left the court in Colfax defeated after losing to the currently unbeaten Vikings’ team in a 52-26 final last Friday night.

The game started with the Vikings ahead by seven after Braana Steen posted 12 points and the Bulldogs scored five from three free-throws and a double.

The Vikings jumped further ahead in the second quarter after the Bulldogs posted just three points against their 15, which set the scoreboard at 27-8 going into the half.

Out of the locker room the Vikings played their best quarter of the game with 19 points scored in the third, but then settled down in the fourth with only six points posted.

The Bulldogs’ offense increased their shooting in the second half with eight points in the third quarter and ten in the fourth.

Abbey Bird had the team’s first three-point basket in the third and Cassie Malean and Morgan Kuhn followed with shots of their own in the fourth.

The Bulldogs finished as a team with five doubles scored, seven freethrows and three three-pointers for their 26 points.

It was Bird who led the team with eight from two doubles, one triple and one free-throw. April Lake and Lexi Peterson each had four points from one double and two freethrows. Kuhn and Malean each had three points from their one basket and Madsyn Riek and Shyanne Marlett each had two points.

The Bulldogs will be back on the court this Thursday (Jan. 23) with a road game to Spring Valley.

They will then be at home on Saturday night (Jan. 25) to host Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran with both contests starting at 7:30 p.m.
