Lady Toppers dominate the court in Prairie Farm

PRAIRIE FARM – The Lady Hilltoppers played in a double-header along with the boys’ team against the Prairie Farm Panthers last Thursday, January 2. It was a cheerful ride home for the Toppers as they won 52-28.

After Jen Kopacz and Moriah Kuehndorf got the ball rolling by draining a three point shot each, the Toppers took a five point lead in the first quarter of 15-10 over the Panthers.

Kopacz and Rachel Klatt each drained a double and Kayla Bloss and Kristie Knops both had two free-throws pass through the net to aid in the Toppers’ early lead.

There was no looking back for the Lady Tops after the opening quarter. They finished the first half with 12 points in the second quarter, which included another three from Kuehndorf.

Kuehndorf followed up with a double as well. Also on the offense was Klatt with two doubles of her own, Maya Petersen had one and Megan Samens drained a free-throw to put the half-time score at 27-15.

The game fell into a lull out of the locker room after the half and the Toppers posted eight points against the Panthers’ seven to put the score at 35-22.

The Toppers kicked it into overdrive in the fourth quarter with 17 points scored on a total team effort. They allowed the Panther’s offense to score six points on three shots.

With a total of 12 points scored, it was Kuehndorf who finished with the game high from two treys and three doubles.

Klatt and Kopacz finished the night with ten points each. Klatt had five doubles and Kopacz had one trey, three doubles and a free-throw.

Following was Samens with eight points from three doubles and two free-throws, Knops had six points from free-throws and Bloss, Petersen and Gabby Peterson each had two points.

The Toppers will be back on the court this Thursday (Jan. 9) with a game at home against the St. Croix Central Panthers. They will be at home again on Saturday (Jan. 11) for an afternoon game against Spring Valley starting at 2:30 p.m.
