Bulldogs lose on the road against Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY — The Boyceville boys’ basketball team took one to the chin against the Spring Valley Cardinals last Thursday night with a game final of 59-43.

The Cardinals jumped to an early lead in the first quarter with 17 points scored compared to the Bulldogs’ ten.

The Dogs continued to be consistent on the court with an additional ten points posted in the second quarter, which included the team’s first three point shot by Jordan Kuhn.

However, the Cardinals were consistent with their offensive play as well, which led to another 17-point quarter to put the half time score at 34-20.

The Bulldogs were sightly more active in the second half of the game with 11 points scored in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth.

The Cardinals drained two treys and chalked up six foul shots however to push their lead ahead by 50-31 in the third.

The Bulldogs outscored the Cardinals by three points in the fourth with their 12 points from two treys by Jason Retzloff, two baskets from Jake McIntyre and two free-throws from Hunter Anderson.

Despite the outcome of the game, Kuhn and McIntyre each had their best game so far this year on offense. Kuhn scored 17 points from three triples, three doubles and two free-throws.

McIntyre finished with 14 points from five doubles and he was four for six at the freethrow line.

Also scoring for the team was Schutts with seven points, Anderson with three and Tyler Draeger with two.

The Bulldogs were back on the court Tuesday night with a home game against Elmwood. They will be on the road Friday night (Dec. 20) to play against St. Croix Central.
