Christ the King Lutheran Church of Wilson, WI will be hosting a Veteran’s Recognition on Sunday, November 10th. During the 10:15 a.m. worship service there will be a special focus on the significant role that our veteran’s have played in our national and religious freedom in America. A brief service of recognition will follow at approximately 11:15 a.m. and then a fellowship meal will be held at 11:45 a.m.
In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”
Today the reflections of Veteran’s Day ought to be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of all those who have served in our country’s armed forces and with gratitude for the sacrifice and commitment of so many including those who are still among us.
All veteran’s and their families are welcome to attend this special day of recognition. If you cannot come for all of the festivities please feel free to come for those you can. Christ the King Lutheran is located 2 miles south of I-94 on Hwy. 128 at 30th Ave. For more information please call the church office at (715) 772-4464 or Pastor Johnson at (715) 772-4454.
