Bulldogs beat by Mounders to end conference play

By Kelsie Hoitomt

The Lady Bulldogs finished their regular season of volleyball with a loss to the Mounders while in Elk Mound last Tuesday, October 15. The Bulldogs were beat in three sets of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16.

End to Conference

“We made errors that just can’t happen at this point in the season. We missed six serves and really struggled to pass the ball off the serve. We had some great moments with a good pass set and kill, but they were just too far and few in between,” explained coach Taryn Score of the match.

The lack of a pass, set, kill play was evident in the numbers as April Lake averaged over ten kills this season and she posted eight. This was the same for Abbey Bird who was only able to connect with seven. The other kills came from Cassie Malean who had two and Hannah Guy had one.

The Bulldogs also connected on seven total service aces including two from both Bird and Lexi Peterson and one from McKenzie Schultz, Kennedy Hellmann and Lake.

The Bulldogs finished their Dunn-St. Croix Conference season in the middle of the pack with a 5-4 record after losing to the top four ranked teams including number one ranked Colfax and Mondovi and then Spring Valley and Elk Mound who were tied for second.

The Bulldogs were seeded number four in the Division 3 Regional ranking. They hosted the number five seeded team, Unity, on Tuesday night, October 22.

The winner of that game will play the winner of the Webster/Glenwood City match on this Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m.
