Glenwood Area Historical Society’s Fall Meeting to be held November 3

The Glenwood Area Historical Society will present award winning Agricultural Literacy and Farm Heritage speaker Gordon W. Fredrickson from Lakeville, Minnesota at our annual fall meeting to be held on Sunday afternoon, November 3rd at 2 P.M. in the Glenwood City Community Center.

Gordon wears denim overalls, work boots, his farming cap, and keeps his Dad’s trusty pliers in a side pocket. He grew up picking rocks and milking cows. Chores came before fun. The former English teacher worried that as agriculture practices changed, his way of life wouldn’t be remembered. So he decided to write children books that captured his experiences told in an accurate way, with humor and love.

For the past thirteen years Gordon has been performing his stories for adults and children at museums, senior centers, schools, farm shows, club meetings, historical societies and libraries. During his presentations, pictures from the past and colorful illustrations are shown on a large screen as he tells us about farm life in the 1950s.

A free will donation lunch will follow our program.
