Bulldog runners reign in consecutive second place finishes

The Boyceville cross country runners recently participated in the Colfax Invitational last Monday, October 7 and then again this past Saturday in Arcadia. The boys’ team finished the week with two, second place finishes.
Second in Colfax
The boys’ team ran a solid 5K race in Colfax with a second place finish against five other schools after they earned a team total of 57 with their first five runners finishing in the top 25. First place went to St. Croix Central with 45 total points.
The Bulldogs’ number one and two runners finished next to each other in the standings with Tanner Johnson-Hetchler running a 17:08.30 for third place and Mitch Pustol ran an 18:06.32 for fourth place out of 73 runners.
Senior James Lindo finished third for the team and 11th overall with a time of 18:44.57. He was followed by Tristan Debell who was three places behind in 14th with a time of 18:50.85.
Rounding off the scoring positions for the team was freshman Maxwell Engel in 26th place with a time of 19:59.06.
Five other Bulldog runners competed in the race including Ian Kane in 40th place (21:01.68), Kiel Anderson in 51st (21:57.44), Peter Duerst in 56th (22:19.49), Michael Chich in 65th (23:45.80) and Jack Kapsner in 66th (24:03.88).
The girls did not field a full team, but there were three runners that competed individually including Michaella Kegen in 30th out of 52 participants with a time of 19:25.58.
Katie Kegen was next in line in 48th with a 21:22.95 and following her was Sandra Knorr in 49th with a 21:41.13.
Arcadia Results
The race in Arcadia at the Schultz Family Farm saw yet another second place finish for the Bulldogs’ boys’ team. The finished with a team total of 67 points; first place went to Brookwood with 57 points.
Seniors, Johnson-Hetchler and Kane led the team with Johnson-Hetchler in 11th place (17:44.74) and Kane finished in 36th (18:50.17) out of 151 total runners in the small schools race.
Finishing in the top five and completing the team were Pustol in 47th (19:07.11), Lindo in 62nd (19:27.57) and Debell in 73rd (19:37.27).
Freshmen Bulldogs, Engel and Anderson rounded out the roster with Engel in sixth place for the team and 95th overall (20:48.91). Anderson finished 131st with a 22:35.25.
The girls’ team had two runners participate with Michaella Kegen in 90th (19:46.84) and Emma Harnisch in 104th (20.30.15) out of 131 individuals.
The Bulldogs will have had a few days to rest up and prepare before they hit the course in Colfax again for the Conference Meet, which is scheduled for this Thursday, October 17 at 4:30 p.m.
