Pharmacy opening in Ormson’s SuperValu

By Kelsie Hoitomt

GLENWOOD CITY- Brian Ormson is proud to announce that he will be expanding this fall as Dave and Susie Willink, owners of Village Pharmacy in Baldwin, will be opening up a pharmacy inside the grocery store.

The Willinks purchased the Village Pharmacy last December from Dane and Deb Rasmussen, however Dave has been the pharmacist there for nine years now.

Dave has a long history with the Village Pharmacy. He began working there just before his senior year of high school.

Dave worked part-time at the pharmacy as a clerk and then as a pharmacy technician during his college years while he was pursing his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. It was after graduation and passing the state licensure exams in 2004 that he started working full-time at the pharmacy.

This will be the first time in ten years that Glenwood City will have a pharmacy. There has not been one in Glenwood since John McCutchin closed his shop in 2003.

Ormson said his main goal in starting a pharmacy is to keep people local and keep business local. Doing so will provide a needed service in town. People won’t have to drive 20 miles or more to get to the nearest pharmacy anymore.

Currently, the Village Pharmacy has three pharmacist employed and each are certified to give vaccinations so that looks to be a service that will be available to customers; especially during the winter months and flu season.

The greatest service that will be provided is the benefit of insurance coverage. All major insurance providers are to be covered as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

The Willinks as well as Ormson shared that they are very excited to get the project underway and start the new adventure.

In addition to the pharmacy, Ormson’s is also making some improvements inside the store with two new produce cases coming soon and the meat case is being replaced as well.
