The St. Croix County Fair kicks off Wednesday

GLENWOOD CITY — Mid-July has arrived, animals are in their barns and the smell of deep fried food is in the air so that can mean just one thing; the St. Croix County Fair is here.

 The annual fair kicked off today (Wednesday) with the Flag Raising and Opening Ceremony at 10:45 a.m. Also on Wednesday will be the Junior Dog Show and Horse Pull in the evening.

Other highlights throughout the five-day event begin Thursday (July 18), with the Carnival opening at 1:00 p.m.. That evening will be the Antique and Garden Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. as well as the Fairest of Fair Coronation at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s K-9 unit will be putting on a demo in the area outside of the animal barns near the Croix Court at 1:00 p.m. (as well as Saturday at 6:00 p.m.). Also at the same time and place will be the calf and goat dressing contest. Afterwards will be the Kiddie Tractor Pull.

Friday evening at the Carnival is Wristband Night from 5-10:00 p.m. for $19. Also that night is the annual Truck and Tractor Pull starting at 6:00 p.m.

Wristbands for rides will be just $13 on Saturday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Other entertainment in the afternoon will feature a Magic Village Show, James Wedgewood the Ventriloquist and Donkey Races in the horse arena.

Later in day Saturday will be the Draft Horse Hitch Show featuring a performance by the Schottler’s Milk Buds in the horse arena starting at 4:00 p.m. Then at 6:00 p.m. will be the 4×4 Mud Races. Starting at 6:30 p.m. will be the 4-H/FFA Meat Animal Auction and the 4 Man Team Penning.

Sunday morning events will start at 9:00 a.m. with a Church Service and 4-H Music, the Living Memorial Award and Mud Volleyball around 11:00 a.m.

Starting at noon will be carnival tickets for $1.75 a piece with one ticket going towards one ride. Also that afternoon will be the Local Talent Show in the Croix Court at 1:00 p.m. with the Friends of the Fairgrounds Raffle Drawing at following at 3:00 p.m.
