PRCA Rodeo to be held in Glenwood City June 14 & 15
The St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo brings top notch Ram Rodeo to St. Croix County Fairgrounds & Fairplex, Glenwood City June 14 & 15 with 7:30pm performances. Gates open at 4:30pm and the performances are rain or shine – nothing is more fun than watching bronc riding, steer wrestling & bull riding in the mud!
In addition to the thrill of watching professional cowboys compete on the rough stock furnished by the famed Barnes Rodeo Stock Company, there are added attractions for the entire family, particularly junior wranglers.
Muttin Bustin, sponsored by Bernard’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep, is a real crowd pleaser, testing the ability of junior wranglers to ride a sheep against the clock. Each performance 10 lucky entrants weighing 55#’s or less are drawn by lot. Winners of the event, receive a traveling trophy that they keep for a year and then turn in for an engraved western buckle.
Last year’s winners were, Marissa German, Somerset and Julia Wittmer, Glenwood City. For both girls, the Traveling Trophy had an honored place in their homes with the story of their rides being retold numerous times. According to Julia, “A successful ride is easy, simply squeeze your legs really tight and hold on”. She said, “the ride was like flying on a cloud”!
In addition to Muttin Bustin, youth can compete in Nickel & Calf Scrambles. Saturday only, Fantasy Corral will bring their collection of exotic petting animals and, for a charge, offer pony rides. For all ages, Steve Jarchow, New Richmond, is offering complimentary horse drawn wagon rides both nights between 5 & 7pm. Be sure to come early, by 5pm, to take full advantage of the junior wrangler competition.
