GC Golf team advances to Sectional

COLFAX — Hitting the links at the Whitetail Golf Course, the Glenwood City varsity golf team competed in Colfax for the Regional meet last Wednesday, May 22.
The Toppers finished in second place just four points behind Grantsburg with a total score of 343.
Sophomore Jake Hierlmeier not only led the team, but also finished as the honor medalist with a total 18-hole round of 79. He had a first nine-hole round of 42 and finished the back nine with a 37.
Second place went to Jordan Knutson of Grantsburg with an 80.
Rounding out the rest of the Hilltopper team was freshman Garret Schemionek who shot an 87 for a ninth place finish. Right behind him was his older brother Zach Schemionek with an 88 on the day followed by the other brothers Nick Mrdutt with an 89 and Nathan Mrdutt with a 91.
