Mounders take two over Lady Bulldogs

ELK MOUND — The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up their regular season play last Thursday, May 16 against the Elk Mound Mounders and lost both games of the doubleheader 11-1 and 3-1.
The Mounders are currently in second place in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference behind Pepin/Alma.
The Bulldogs one run in the first game was scored by Alexa Peterson after she hit a single and then advanced around the bases on an RBI triple from teammate Brooklynn Blaser. Those were the only two hits the Bulldogs had in that game.
Despite the loss, game two was a different story as the Bulldogs warmed up and were able to get their bats going. They were able to stay evenly matched with the Mounders as they had four hits out of 18 At Bats. The Mounders had 19 At Bats which generated the five hits and three runs.
Katie Kegen scored the Bulldogs only run of the second game with the RBI from Kysa Franseen. Blaser and Kennedy Hellmann had the other two hits for the team.
Sophomore Dayna Kotecki was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts and one walk and the two runs scored against the Bulldogs.
For Boyceville it was Hellmann on the mound who delivered one strikeout and allowed for ten walks between the two games.
The Bulldogs had a bye in the first round of Regionals and then played in the level two Regional on Tuesday, May 21 at home against Colfax. They will either play in Elk Mound or at home against Prescott on Thursday, May 23.
