Lady Bulldogs drop pair to Pepin/Alma in season opener

By Kelsie Hoitomt

PEPIN – The Lady Bulldogs stepped onto the field in Pepin for their first game of the season last Thursday, April 25 for a double-header against the Eagles. The Bulldogs held the Eagles in their grasps, but weren’t able to pull off a win and lost 5-0 and 7-1.

Due to a lack of snow in the area, the Eagles have played a handful of games on their field this season with four wins under their belt already.

The Bulldogs had a total of 16 at-bats in the first game with only one hit from Rachal Anderson against Pepin’s pitcher, Breanna Ellison.

The Bulldogs were able to move the ball around better in the second game with hits from Kennedy Hellmann and Alexa Peterson. Anna Jenkins had the RBI hit, which allowed Peterson to score the team’s first and only run.

Ellison pitched 19 total strikeouts and allowed only one walk against the Bulldogs.

On the mound for the Bulldogs was Kennedy Hellmann. She had nine strikeouts and allowed 13 walks.

In the field, Kysa Franseen led the team with outs in the first game with nine putouts. In the second game, Anna Jenkins had six outs and Jenna Beyrer had four.
