Fourth quarter play gives Blue Devils edge over Lady Toppers

PLUM CITY — The Lady Hilltoppers chalked up a loss last Tuesday, February 5 after traveling to Plum City where they were beat 42-33 by the Blue Devils.
The Toppers stayed within reach of the win throughout the first three quarters with the score knotted at 5-5 after the first quarter, but then the Blue Devils took the lead in the second 18-13.
However, the Toppers closed the gap in the third quarter as they trailed just two points with the score at 28-26 going into the fourth.
The Blue Devils sealed the win with their fourth quarter performance after putting up 14 points and holding the Toppers to just seven.
The Toppers were without starter and points leader, Jen Kopacz due to illness and three of their five starters including Kristie Knops, Kelsie Knops and Olivia Weidling fouled out of the game before the middle of the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devils had 30 chances at the charity line, and 16 of those were successful. The Toppers were just under 50 percent from the line as they were successful with six out of 15 shots.
Freshman starter, Morgan Kadinger stepped up her performance for the team and controlled the ball under the net with 16 points from five deuces, a triple and three free throws.
Scoring the rest of the team’s points were Janessa Ullom with eight, Weidling had five and Kelsie Knops finished with four.
